Motorcoach

Elevate Your Group

Your Chimney Rock experience begins as you cross over the Rocky Board River and take the scenic mile drive up the mountain to the Ticket Plaza.  After you check in, you’ll be directed to our motorcoach parking area where you’ll meet your shuttle for your trip to the top of the mountain. After a brief introduction by a Park associate, your group will take a 26-story elevator ride inside the mountain in about 32 seconds to some of the best views in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Too much sitting? They can stretch their legs and take a hike to our 404’ waterfall or explore the Outcroppings Trail for more incredible views from multiple vantage points. Groups love to shop for mementos of their visit. They’ll find a great selection at both the Sky Lounge and Cliff Dwellers Gifts.  Want the group to get even more engaged, consider adding our Bird of Prey or other programs for an opportunity to get up-close with some of our resident animal ambassadors. Hungry? Let us do the cooking! Add a buffet-style, catered meal or order some grab-and-go box lunches to take with them on their hike.

Access

Shuttle Service

Due to sharp curves on the upper half of the road to the top, motorcoaches are not permitted beyond a certain point. Chimney Rock provides a complimentary shuttle service for your group from our designated motorcoach parking area to the parking lot at the base of Chimney Rock. In order to guarantee our shuttle service, a reservation is required.

Elevator

Walk through the 198-foot tunnel into the mountain and take the recently modernized, state-of-the-art Otis elevator that offers easy access to the Chimney level for everyone in your group. Have your cameras ready to capture the 75-mile panoramic view of Lake Lure, Hickory Nut Gorge, and the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Experience

Birds of Prey Program

For centuries, raptors have always fascinated mankind and have been the origin of many legends. Realizing the importance of these predators, and sometimes prey will help you understand the role they play in our ecosystem. Meet a couple of our special animal ambassadors up close and personal to see the incredible characteristics of these beautiful creatures.

Appalachian Tunes

Visitors are always intrigued by Park Musician, John Mason, and his variety of tunes that he plays on his hammered dulcimer. On most sunny days, in Spring, Summer, and Fall, John can be found entertaining guests at the elevator tunnel entrance with his toe-tappin’ tunes.  Consider adding some Appalachian culture to your next catered lunch or dinner here in the Park.

Explore

Our six very unique and different hiking trails offer plenty of options to explore at your own pace. You may choose to do a guided walk down the 494 steps of the Outcroppings Trail and hear about the geological and cultural history of the Park. Or, if your group is more ambitious, they can hike the 1.4-mile roundtrip to Hickory Nut Falls Trail which leads to the full drop of the 404’ waterfall. Find out more about our trails here. Our team is more than happy to help you plan the best itinerary for your group.

Eats

The Old Rock Café can prepare delicious meal options for groups with farm-fresh fruits and vegetables to grass-fed beef. Enjoy grab-n-go box lunches on the new Outcroppings Deck or take your lunch and eat out on the trail. Looking for a hearty meal?  Plan for a catered meal to enjoy at our covered pavilion in the Meadows. You can also reserve space inside or outside on the deck at the Old Rock Café in Chimney Rock Village overlooking the Rocky Broad River.
