Elevator Reopening

Here’s the latest on the elevator!

The news you’ve been waiting for is finally here! We’re excited to announce that the elevator is back in operation.  Guests can once again access the Chimney and Sky Lounge in about 32 seconds.  All of our trails are open, too.  The new stairs that lead up to the “Rock” and down to the waterfall trail offer outrageous views that will leave you breathless in more ways than one! We’re sure you’ll agree that hiking up is well worth the effort.

But, there are a few things  you need to know before you travel to the Park. The retaining wall on the top parking lot failed during the recent storms in our area, so we cannot park on the top at this time. All guests will need to take a shuttle bus from the Meadows midway in the Park to the top lot. If you are unable to board a bus by yourself and walk about the length of a football field uphill from the drop-off point to the elevator tunnel, you may want to wait until the upper parking lot is repaired before your next visit.

If you’re up for a hearty walk, you can hike all the way from the Meadows to the waterfall trail and on up to the Chimney. You can get all the steps and activity in that you need. Your Fitbit will track some good results, and you’ll be treated to incredible views in the process!

We anticipate that we’ll be able to drive up top by later this summer. Please keep checking. We’ll give you up-to-the minute progress reports here on our website.

Thanks for your understanding and on-going support.
