Winter Hours and Rates Begin

Frozen Hickory Nut Falls, Winter 2016

Winter has sometimes been called “Chimney Rock’s Undiscovered Season,” and for good reason. Although many of the trees are bare and the crowds of summer and fall are gone, there’s something special about the Park in winter. Each trail has new views, some of which extend for miles now that the leaves are gone. Popular spots like the Chimney and the waterfall are quieter during the off season. Migrating birds can be seen among the trees as they make their way to warmer climates or spend the winter here. Quieter trails mean more opportunity to spot wildlife.

From now until Daylight Saving Time begins (March 13), the ticket plaza will be open daily from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Adult day tickets are $10 and youth tickets are $5, making winter the most affordable time to come explore the Park. We look forward to seeing you in the Park soon!
