Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail

The Chimney Rock State Park Attraction hosts a segment of the Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail. This section of trail utilizes five of the six trails within the attraction. As you traverse the trails, follow the markers showing the purple salamander to find your way. The designated section of HNGST starts at the Four Seasons Trailhead and connects to the Hickory Nut Falls Trail. From there, it follows the Outcroppings Trail past Chimney Rock to the Exclamation Point Trail, and finishes at the end of Skyline Trail at the top of Hickory Nut Falls. This portion of the trail is strenuous, with 1,240 total feet of elevation gain.

More information on the Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail can be found here and here.
