A Jumble of Giant Rocks below the Chimney

Due to winter capital improvements, the Outcroppings and Skyline trails will be closed until spring 2012. There is currently no access to the Chimney and points of interest above, including the Opera Box, Devil’s Head and Exclamation Point. Imagine your sense of achievement after hiking up the nearly 500 stairs of the Outcroppings trail. You'll stand atop the Chimney in awe of the amazing view and also your accomplishment. Along the way check out Moonshiner's Cave for an imaginative glimpse into the history of the potent brew. Stop by The Birdhouse, our exhibit showcasing the many birds that live in or migrate through Chimney Rock. At Vista Rock, take a moment to enjoy the observation deck. You'll be glad you put forth the extra effort.
