Fall Scout Programs for 2008
November 1st Fall Boy Scout Day
The Chimney Rock Park education team has planned a day of learning and fun in our outdoor classroom for Scouts. Cost is $14 per scout and includes all programs plus a patch. One adult chaperone admitted free per 10 scouts. Chaperones are required. Each additional adult is $11.50. Additional non-scout children are $5 each. Catered lunch optional.

Old Growth Forest Hike – Join Park Naturalist Ron Lance in the rare opportunity to walk among some of the Park’s largest trees. Ron’s knowledge of flora and fauna will keep leaders and scouts intrigued.
Shelter Building 101 – Have you ever been lost in the woods? Or maybe just thought about what you would do if that should happen? One of the Park’s Trail Rangers will show you how to build a shelter for the night. Then get your troop together and put your skills to the test.
Critter Crazed – For the love of the beast! As any of us who spend time in the woods know, we are sharing this world with some amazing creatures. Join Education Coordinator Emily Walker to learn about some of our local friends and their relatives. Be sure to bring your camera!
Great Woodland Adventure Scavenger Hunt – Let’s have some fun. Chimney Rock’s Education staff has developed a scavenger hunt just for you. Put on your thinking caps and get your troop together in this fun teambuilding exercise.

Appalachian Music and Stories – With ties to both the mountains and the lowlands of the Carolinas, John Fowler will bring you home. Scouts will be amazed by his collection of instruments and their importance in the history of the local area. This program is sure to keep your feet tapping!
