Kids in Parks - Unplug and Reconnect
We've partnered with Kids in Parks to bring TRACK (Trails, Ridges and Active Caring Kids) programming to Chimney Rock. TRACK Trail adventures are designed to help kids explore nature through the use of self-guided brochures.
We have four programs for the Park:
- Nature's Hide & Seek (seasonal)
- The Need for Trees
- Bug Off!
- Tracks & Traces
Brochures can be used on any trail in Chimney Rock and can be picked up at Grady's Discovery Den on the Meadows.
After kids complete a TRACK Trail adventure, they log onto the program's website and register to win fun prizes.
The TRACK Trail program is part of the larger Kids in Parks Initiative sponsored by the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation. Working together with partners throughout the community, our mission is to increase physical activity of children and their families, to improve nutritional choices, and to get kids outdoors and along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We officially opened our TRACK Trails on National Trails Day, June 5, 2010 (see photo). For more information on this great program, visit www.kidsinparks.com. Also, while you're here, be sure to pick up a TRACK Trail adventure and get TRACKing!
