Most people don't know that Chimney Rock has its own Old Growth Forest. A small portion of the mountain was left untouched when the rest of the area was logged many years ago. This adventure will take your class to a special part of the Park that's not open to the public and introduce you to a forest from long ago. This hike correlates well with the Nature Journaling program.
The Park's most popular trail is the Hickory Nut Falls trail due to its beauty and ease of hiking. Your guide will point out plants, trees and geologic features that make Chimney Rock a natural wonder. What reward could be better than arriving at the stunning 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls? Bring your cameras to capture the scenery!
The Four Seasons trail is an ever-changing journey through the wilderness. Ascending through a dense forest understory beneath a towering canopy, the scenery is different during each season. Students will discover some of the magic nature brings to our world. Want more? The Four Seasons trail connects with the Hickory Nut Falls trail for continued fun!
Chimney Rock is famous for its breathtaking views and amazing rock formations. Join your guide in climbing more than 400 stairs (with plenty of breaks) on the Outcroppings trail to summit the Chimney. This hike is perfect for classes studying geology.
