Day and Night Photo Workshop

Join professional photographer Chuck Hill for this 2-day photo workshop focused on nature.

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park is offering a two-day Day and Night Photo Workshop for photography enthusiasts interested in learning the best ways to capture fall color.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, at 9 a.m. through Sunday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m., professional photographer Chuck Hill will discuss and review panoramic photos, types of scenic photography and the equipment needed to make photos pop.

Shutterbugs will also have the opportunity to take photos in the Park during, before and after regular hours during this workshop.

The first day of the class will focus on scenic photography, waterfall photography and getting the perfect shot of the sun setting. An astrophotography lesson will be held on Saturday night and will highlight the best ways to capture photos of the moon and stars.

Following the nighttime shoot, students have the option of camping in the Park overnight for an additional fee, which is a rarity, since the Park doesn’t normally allow camping.

After sleeping under the stars, participants will wake at 4 a.m. to capture daybreak photos of Lake Lure from the top of the Park. Additional outdoor photography time, reviews of photo equipment and editing software will finish out the remainder of the workshop.

Workshop attendees are responsible for bringing their own camera, computer with photo editing software, camping equipment and food  other than  lunch during this workshop.  Lunch is included in the  cost.

The deadline to register for this workshop at ChimneyRockPark.com is Thursday, Nov. 1, at noon. Cost is $250 per participant, plus $8 to camp overnight in the Park.
